Laser play should always end with something the cat can physically catch, such as a toy or small treat. This helps complete the chase sequence and reduces frustration. Never aim a laser at a person’s or animal’s eyes, reflective surfaces or moving vehicles, and keep the device out of reach when it is not being used.

Using KONG laser toys

Keep sessions brief and move the light along the floor or low surfaces rather than encouraging dangerous jumps. Allow pauses, vary the route and stop if the cat becomes overstimulated. Older cats or cats with mobility limitations may prefer slower movements and shorter distances.
