The Simple Solution UV Spot Spotter helps you investigate persistent pet odours when the source is difficult to see. This handheld inspection torch uses 21 ultraviolet LEDs to reveal fluorescent traces in a darkened room, helping you identify patches that deserve closer attention before you begin cleaning.

Key features and benefits

The focused handheld format makes it useful for checking carpets, rugs and furniture around the home. Rather than treating a whole area without knowing where to start, you can mark suspect patches and return to them with the room lights on. It is a practical companion to a suitable pet stain and odour cleaner.

The torch requires three AAA batteries, which are not included. It is a reusable inspection tool, so the same torch can be used when checking another room or investigating a later incident.

Suitable for

Pet households looking for an aid to locating areas for closer inspection and surface-appropriate cleaning.

Not suitable for

Confirming that every glowing mark is urine, diagnosing a health problem or disinfecting surfaces. Some other residues glow, while some urine traces may not be visible. Never shine the beam into eyes.

Product details

One Simple Solution UV Spot Spotter, model SS91218, with 21 UV LEDs.

Requires three AAA batteries; batteries are not included.

A locating aid for checking areas before cleaning. Fluorescence is a clue to investigate, not proof that a patch is cat urine. Other substances can glow and some urine traces may not be visible.

A note from management

The inspection was going well until someone switched off the lights.

Under ordinary lighting, the drawing room had an impeccable record. Three formal inspections. No irregularities. A commendation for the rug.

Then the junior investigator produced a small torch.

Several previously respectable surfaces became persons of interest.

The Crown requested that the lights be restored.

Management explained that the investigation was ongoing.

His High-ness explained that Management’s employment was also ongoing. For the moment.

Tony arrived at 21:14. He examined the illuminated area, consulted nobody and placed a velvet cushion over it.

The investigator asked whether this constituted interference with evidence.

Tony asked whether the investigator had enjoyed working indoors.

By morning, the report had been amended. The rug retained its commendation. The torch was transferred to a department that does not appear on the organisational chart.

The junior investigator now monitors pigeons.

From outside.

Materials/composition

Handheld battery-powered torch with 21 UV LEDs. Requires three AAA batteries, supplied separately.

Grooming performance

Household inspection aid: UV light can reveal fluorescent traces for closer inspection before cleaning. This product is used around the home, not on a cat’s coat.

Fluorescence does not confirm urine. The torch does not remove stains, neutralise odours or disinfect surfaces.

How to use

Read the supplied instructions. Open the battery compartment, insert three AAA batteries with the correct polarity and fit the battery holder in the direction shown by its arrow. Secure the end cap.

Darken the room and scan the areas you want to inspect. Mark suspect patches with a removable marker such as a small piece of tape, checking the surface first.

Turn the room lights back on and inspect each marked area. Use a suitable cleaner according to its own label, including its surface test and drying instructions.

Never shine the beam into a person’s or animal’s eyes. Keep the torch and loose batteries away from children and pets.

This torch locates areas for inspection; it does not remove stains, neutralise odours or disinfect surfaces.

Follow the supplied battery and electrical-care instructions. Do not immerse the torch in water.

FAQ

Are batteries included? No. You will need three AAA batteries.

Does every glowing mark mean urine? No. Different residues and materials can fluoresce. Inspect the area before deciding how to clean it.

Can I use the torch instead of a cleaner? No. Use a surface-appropriate cleaner separately and follow its instructions.
