Some cats scratch because they are bored.

Others are preparing.

The PetRebels Maine 90 is for the quiet specialist in the corner. The one who stretches slowly, sharpens carefully, and looks directly at the couch like it owes money.

This is not “playtime”.

This is maintenance.
Preparation.
Claw administration.

Ninety centimetres of vertical authority for the cat who needs to stand tall, extend fully, and file the equipment before the next household incident. The base keeps the department in place. The post gives the claws somewhere respectable to conduct business.

Because every organisation needs a sharpening station.

The furniture has been warned.
The curtains are under review.
The suspect is calm, focused, and visibly preparing.

For cats who do not merely scratch.

They train.

Best for cats who enjoy vertical scratching, full-body stretching, and pretending the furniture was asking for it.

Place the scratching post somewhere your cat already likes to scratch, near a favourite sleeping area, close to a window, or beside furniture they have been auditing without permission.

Cats often scratch after waking up, so placing it near a nap zone can help redirect the behaviour.

The 90 cm height gives cats room to stretch upward while scratching, while the 40 × 40 cm base keeps the footprint compact for smaller homes and apartments.

Scratching is normal cat behaviour. It helps cats maintain their claws, stretch their muscles, mark territory, and release energy.

A tall scratching post gives your cat a dedicated place to scratch instead of using the couch, bed base, curtains, or any other soft target that has entered the evidence file.

The Maine 90 is useful for:

• Vertical scratching
• Full-body stretching
• Claw maintenance
• Territory marking
• Redirecting furniture scratching
• Indoor enrichment
• Post-nap stretching rituals
• Cats who need a proper place to prepare their claws before suspicious activity

A good scratcher does not remove the criminal instinct.

It simply redirects it to approved infrastructure.

• Place the scratching post on a flat, stable surface.
• Check that the base sits evenly before use.
• Monitor first use, especially if your cat is large, heavy, extremely energetic, or enters every room like a controlled demolition.
• This is a scratching post, not a climbing tower.
• Check regularly for wobbling, loose parts, worn fibres, or damage.
• Replace the scratcher if it becomes unstable.
• Keep away from open flames, heaters, or damp areas.
• If your cat ignores it at first, place it near an existing scratching spot and reward use with treats, praise, or a small amount of catnip.

Factory guarantee
PetRebels gives a factory guarantee on all their products. This covers product quality, but normal wear from scratching behaviour will vary depending on your cat’s use.

How do I stop my cat from scratching the furniture?
Give your cat a proper scratching post and place it near the furniture they already scratch. Cats usually scratch to stretch, mark territory, maintain their claws, and release energy, so the aim is not to stop scratching completely. The aim is to redirect the operation to approved infrastructure.

Why does my cat scratch the couch?
Cats scratch because it is natural behaviour. It helps keep their claws healthy, stretches their muscles, and lets them mark territory. The couch is not special. It was simply available, soft, and apparently guilty.

Will a scratching post stop my cat scratching the couch?
It can help, especially if the post is tall, stable, and placed near the problem area. Some cats need encouragement at first, so try placing the post close to the couch, using catnip, and rewarding your cat when they use it.

What type of scratching post is best for cats?
Most cats prefer a sturdy scratching post that is tall enough for a full stretch. A vertical scratching post like the Maine 90 is useful because it gives cats space to stretch upward while sharpening their claws.

Are tall scratching posts better for cats?
Tall scratching posts are often better for cats who like to stretch fully while scratching. A short post may not give enough height, especially for larger or long-bodied cats.

What material is best for a cat scratching post?
Sisal is one of the most popular scratching materials because it gives cats a satisfying texture for claw maintenance. A stable base is also important so the post does not wobble while your cat is using it.

Where should I put a cat scratching post?
Place it where your cat already spends time or near furniture they like to scratch. Good spots include near a favourite sleeping area, next to the couch, close to a window, or in a high-traffic area where your cat likes to make announcements.

Why is my cat not using the scratching post?
Your cat may not like the location, height, texture, or stability of the post. Try moving it closer to the furniture they already scratch, adding catnip, or rewarding them when they use it. Cats do not accept new departments without a proper onboarding process.

Is this scratching post good for apartment cats?
Yes. The Maine 90 has a compact 40 × 40 cm base but still gives cats a 90 cm vertical scratching height, making it practical for apartments and smaller indoor spaces.

Is this scratching post suitable for large cats?
Yes, the 90 cm height gives larger or longer cats more room to stretch upward while scratching. For very heavy or energetic cats, monitor first use to make sure the post stays stable.

Does this scratching post have a guarantee?
Yes. PetRebels gives a factory guarantee on all their products. The guarantee relates to product quality, but the lifespan of the scratching surface will still depend on your cat’s scratching behaviour and how heavily the post is used.
