A leash should never be attached directly to a cat’s ordinary collar for walking. Cats can reverse out of poorly fitted equipment, so use a secure harness that suits the cat’s body shape and check the fit before every outing. Outdoor introductions should be gradual, quiet and free from dogs, traffic and sudden escape routes.

Using Curli walking gear

Begin indoors by allowing your cat to wear the harness for short periods before adding the leash. Reward calm behaviour and avoid pulling the cat forward. The stretch section can soften sudden tension, but it does not replace close supervision or a properly fitted harness.
